Barça Mobile, FC Barcelona’s official mobile telecom service operated by New Era Visionary Group, is building an in-app digital wallet with Wirex, Crossmint and the Stellar Development Foundation as part of a broader push to develop a global connectivity platform. Announced on Aug. 5, the wallet will remain inside the existing Barça Mobile app and is designed to combine mobile services with payments, rewards, travel and other digital services for FC Barcelona fans, travelers and mobile subscribers. Wirex will provide payment and card infrastructure, Crossmint will supply wallet infrastructure and onboarding technology, and Stellar will act as the blockchain layer supporting digital transactions and cross-border value transfers across different markets. New Era CEO Ruslan Bîrlădeanu said the integration does not represent a separate product launch or new line of business. The plan expands Barça Mobile beyond its original connectivity focus after the service launched in April 2025 as a mobile virtual network operator developed with New Era, initially offering a Global Travel eSIM with internet access in more than 170 countries. FC Barcelona also said planned telephone and fiber services in Spain would use Orange network infrastructure, while the app’s current U.S. App Store listing still describes it as a travel eSIM service advertising connectivity in more than 200 destinations and version 2.5.0 released on Aug. 3.
