Ontology is set to upgrade its mainnet to v3.1.2 at block height 20,800,000 at 12:00 a.m. UTC on Aug. 21, adding four Ethereum EVM features, PUSH0, BASEFEE, MCOPY and transient storage, that it said should reduce smart contract size and some computation costs while making it easier to migrate code from the latest Ethereum environment. Node operators need to update to v3.1.2 before the network reaches the target block. Ahead of the upgrade, Upbit said it will suspend deposits and withdrawals for Ontology (ONT), Ontology Gas (ONG) and MovieBloc (MBL) from 2:00 p.m. UTC on Aug. 20, while Binance said it will suspend deposits and withdrawals on the Ontology network from 02:00 a.m. on Aug. 22, 2026, before the planned network upgrade and hard fork around 03:00 a.m. at the same block height. Binance said trading of ONT and related tokens will continue normally during the maintenance window and that users do not need to take any action. The exchange said services will resume once the network is stable.
