Australia's Securities and Investments Commission shut multiple websites linked to digital asset platform Yepbit after receiving complaints from investors who said they could not withdraw funds, and warned users not to trade with the platform. Yepbit had marketed digital asset and futures trading services globally, including to Australian investors. ASIC said the platform falsely claimed the regulator had frozen customer funds to delay refund requests. The regulator also said Yepbit did not hold an Australian financial services licence and was not registered with AUSTRAC as a virtual asset service provider, underscoring its warning that investors should verify whether trading platforms are properly licensed.
