Hyperliquid expands HIP-1 with deployer-controlled scaleWei function

Hyperliquid has expanded its native HIP-1 token standard with scaleWei, a deployer-controlled function that lets HyperCore rescale holder balances or distribute one asset to holders of another at the balance layer in a single atomic operation. The mechanism can support stock-split style redenominations, reverse splits, rebases, dividend-like distributions and airdrops without requiring users to claim tokens or interact with separate smart contracts, while open orders are canceled and rebuilt with szDecimals-based sizing when the adjusted token is also the reference token. Access is limited to system addresses and authorized vaults, and Hyperliquid founder Jeff Yan outlined the update in the protocol's official Discord on Aug. 12 Beijing time. The feature could strengthen infrastructure for tokenized stocks and ETFs by adding a native way to process corporate actions beyond trading itself.
