Japanese stocks could see fresh buying after the August 12 close brought a wave of stronger-than-expected earnings updates, led by Micronics Japan's first current-year recurring profit forecast showing an 87% rise and a third straight record high, alongside an ¥83 per share dividend increase. Other companies including Broadband Security, Every, Yamami, Digital Information Technologies and i Cubed Systems also projected record profits, while THE COO, Movin Strategic Career, Torex Semiconductor, LIFULL and TRE Holdings lifted guidance further. ARCHION stood out with a 4.3-fold increase to its current-year net profit forecast. Several companies also signaled turnarounds or results already running ahead of full-year plans, including Via Holdings swinging to profit and Marion, Tokyo Communications Group and Decolte Holdings exceeding annual targets on year-to-date performance. The reporting season, running from July 24 to August 14, has highlighted broad-based earnings recovery across semiconductor-related, IT services and consumer sectors, and investors are watching for more upside surprises as over 220 companies are due to report on August 13.
