Mindgard has raised $30 million in a Series A round led by Album VC to expand its AI security platform, adding to the company's previously reported funding history and reinforcing investor interest in tools designed to test and protect AI systems against adversarial attacks, model manipulation and data leakage. The startup, founded in 2022 by Dr. Peter Garraghan and incubated at Lancaster University, is headquartered in Boston and London. Mindgard says its platform provides Shadow AI discovery, AI red teaming and runtime AI protection, reflecting a broader push by enterprises to identify unapproved AI use, probe models and applications for weaknesses, and apply safeguards in production. The company says it has helped disclose more than 150 high-impact AI security vulnerabilities, including a zero-day remote code execution flaw in Cursor IDE, a trusted workspace issue in Google Antigravity, and failures in ChatGPT image-generation safeguards. The raise comes as companies seek security products tailored to generative AI and agentic systems, where conventional software security tools can struggle with the less predictable behavior of models and AI-driven workflows.
