Madison Square Garden Sports shares rose 2.93% to $426.25 and reached a new 52-week high on Thursday after fiscal fourth-quarter diluted earnings of $1.16 per share and revenue of $278.75 million both beat analyst estimates, helped by the New York Knicks' 2025-26 NBA championship run. Quarterly revenue rose 37% from a year earlier as playoff revenue climbed to $182 million from $115.2 million, lifting event-related revenue to $200.7 million and helping the company swing to $32.2 million of operating income from a $22.6 million loss. Management said the title run set new NBA records for per-game gate revenue during the playoffs, drove the team's highest-ever single day of merchandise sales within 24 hours of winning the title and more than doubled postseason sponsorship revenue year over year. The company expects revenue growth across all in-arena categories in fiscal 2027 even as team compensation, NBA luxury tax and revenue-sharing costs rise, and it is targeting the end of October for a spin-off that would separate the Rangers and Knicks into two publicly traded businesses. For fiscal 2026, revenue increased 11% to $1.154 billion.
