Xapo Bank users have reported that the app has begun requiring location data before transactions can proceed, adding a new verification step to account access. Bitcoin News said on X that one user was told GPS coordinates had to be shared to access funds. Xapo Bank said it checks location information against other data to confirm that the account holder is in control of the account. @ToneVays said the requirement could become standard for regulated payment apps, while Casa Chief Executive Officer @Nneuman said the measure may be designed to counter a large number of social engineering attacks rather than serve as traditional KYC (customer identity checks).
