France’s annual inflation rate accelerated to 2.1% in July 2026 from 1.8% in June, confirming preliminary estimates, as faster increases in services and energy prices outweighed softer declines in manufactured goods. Services inflation rose to 2.2% from 1.9%, led by other services at 2.5%, including accommodation at 7.3% and food services at 1.9%. Energy price growth quickened to 12.6% from 11.0%, driven mainly by gas at 17.7% and petroleum products at 20.7%, while food inflation edged up to 1.0% from 0.9%. Manufactured goods prices still fell, but at a slower pace of 0.7% after a 1.1% decline, and tobacco inflation was unchanged at 3.3%. Core inflation accelerated to 1.3% from 1.0%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.6%, rebounding from a 0.3% fall in June, supported by a 1.6% rise in services prices and a 2.3% gain in energy costs. The EU-harmonised CPI rose 2.4% year on year, up from 2.0% in June, and increased 0.6% month on month.
