Equity Trust Company said it has expanded its Crypto IRA offering with two account types that let retirement investors hold digital assets in a tax-advantaged structure with $0 account-opening fees. The company added an Automated Crypto IRA powered by award-winning Animus Technologies, available to Equity Trust IRA customers with a $25,000 minimum investment versus the $250,000 minimum for after-tax and institutional investors, and a self-traded Equity Crypto IRA that runs through its proprietary Digital Trading Platform inside the myEQUITY online account management system. Equity Trust said the automated product uses proprietary algorithms to assess market conditions and automatically recommend and execute Bitcoin and Ethereum trades under predefined, rules-based investment models, while the self-traded account provides access to eligible assets spanning large-cap cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, decentralized finance (DeFi, blockchain-based financial services), AI and blockchain infrastructure, payments and digital commerce, and blockchain innovation. The company said all digital assets are held with institutional-grade custody and cold wallet protection (offline storage) backed by specialty insurance coverage, extending its long-running effort to help retirement investors diversify beyond stocks and bonds through direct crypto ownership inside an IRA.
