A Powerball ticket sold at a Hy-Vee gas station in Quincy, Illinois, won Wednesday night’s $1.04 billion jackpot, ending a roughly three-month stretch without a top-prize winner and marking the eighth-largest jackpot in the game’s history. The winning numbers were 4, 26, 66, 67, 69 and Powerball 9. The winner can choose between an annuity valued at $1 billion over 29 years or a lump-sum payment of $450.5 million, and it was not immediately clear whether the ticket holder had come forward. The jackpot was Powerball’s first since May 2, when a $20 million top prize was won, and the first since ticket sales began in the United Kingdom last month. Four tickets sold in Arizona, California, Florida and North Carolina matched the five white balls to win $1 million each, while a Massachusetts ticket won $2 million after adding the Power Play option. More than 3 million tickets won smaller prizes. At $2 per play, the odds of winning the jackpot are about 1 in 292 million. The jackpot resets to $20 million for Saturday’s drawing. The biggest lottery jackpot on record remains the just-over-$2 billion Powerball prize won in California in 2022.
