Galatasaray has lodged a formal €45 million offer for Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli, but the approach has quickly run into resistance from both the player’s side and Arsenal’s valuation. Martinelli’s representatives have made clear that the 25-year-old Brazilian does not want a move to Turkey, preferring to stay at Arsenal or, if he leaves, join a club in one of Europe’s top five leagues. Arsenal have not accepted the bid, with reports differing on whether it has already been rejected or is still under review. Martinelli is under contract until June 30, 2027, with an option for a further year, and earns about £180,000 a week, giving Arsenal little urgency to sell. The club reportedly values him at closer to €60 million. Any deal would therefore face both a pricing gap and the player’s refusal to engage, with no personal terms discussed. Arsenal signed Martinelli from Ituano in July 2019 for £6 million, meaning even Galatasaray’s offer would represent a substantial gain, but the current indications are that a transfer is unlikely to progress.
