Ford Motor said it will increase U.S. production of Lincoln vehicles starting in 2030 and phase out China-built Lincoln imports for the U.S. market, saying the change is expected to support thousands of direct and indirect U.S. jobs. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said the move showed President Donald Trump's Section 232 auto tariffs were bringing manufacturing back to the United States, and he also pointed to Toyota's U.S. truck production as evidence of domestic capacity. Ford did not disclose the investment, plants or affected models and did not explicitly say in its official announcement that tariffs drove the decision, although a newer report said CEO Jim Farley reportedly described the 52.5% tariff on the China-built Lincoln Nautilus as a major factor.
