Coinbase is preparing to offer more than 170 derivatives contracts to eligible professional investors in the UK, broadening its product suite beyond spot crypto trading into crypto, commodities, equities and foreign exchange. The lineup will include futures, perpetual contracts and crypto options. Perpetual contracts will support up to 50x leverage and allow long, short and market-neutral strategies, while dated futures will offer up to 20x leverage with fixed settlement dates. The service is set to be introduced gradually over the next few weeks to months. The derivatives business will operate under the investment services permission held by CB Payments Ltd. after Coinbase obtained UK investment services authorization in July. Access in the first phase is limited to eligible UK professional investors, and the FCA will impose requirements covering financial resilience, capital, stress testing and market integrity.
