Balance Cash extended its treasury pitch to multifamily operators, saying apartment portfolios often scatter operating cash and lender-required reserves across many properties, entities and banks, leaving substantial balances idle and difficult to monitor. The company said multifamily is one of the most fragmented cash environments in real estate because each property is commonly held in its own entity or special-purpose vehicle with separate operating accounts and reserves for taxes, insurance, capital expenditures and debt service. Balance said the operational burden is largely manual, with finance teams often logging into multiple banking portals and reconciling balances by hand to build a portfolio-wide cash view. Its platform is designed to sit above existing banks, sweeping idle operating and reserve cash into liquid, treasury-grade money market funds on a per-property and per-entity basis through accounts opened under each entity's own tax identification number and never pooled. The company said funds remain readily accessible, allowing operators to seek a competitive yield while preserving lender-required account structures and entity separation. Stan Markuze, CEO of Balance, said reserve accounts are often the largest idle balances in multifamily and must stay available and tied to the correct entity. Balance said the platform also provides consolidated, real-time visibility across properties, entities and banks, alongside forecasting and transaction intelligence, which it argues becomes increasingly important as portfolios expand to dozens or hundreds of communities. The company added that swept assets are held with a third-party independent custodian, are privately insured up to $150 million and SIPC-insured up to $500,000, and that it operates as an SEC-registered investment adviser and is SOC 2 Type II certified. Balance said the investment account is not an FDIC-insured deposit product and may lose value.
