LS Electric said on the 13th that its Power Testing & Technology Institute (PT&T) recently obtained WMTL (Witnessed Manufacturer's Testing Laboratory) recognition from CSA (Canadian Standards Association), giving the company in-house Canadian certification capabilities seen as a key entry point to the broader North American market. The qualification allows PT&T to carry out compliance testing on power equipment under CSA witness and secure CSA certification based on those results, replacing a process that previously relied on outside testing and certification agencies. LS Electric expects the change to cut certification timelines by more than half, reducing time and cost from product development to local market response and improving order competitiveness as North American investment in power infrastructure accelerates. The company plans to embed North American standards from the product development stage and use the qualification to expand higher-value supply in data centers, wide-area power grids and industrial power equipment. The move comes as the United States and Canada maintain strict safety and quality requirements while demand rises from AI data center expansion, renewable energy integration and aging grid replacement. PT&T, South Korea's only private-sector power testing laboratory, had already expanded its overseas certification base in June by registering as an accredited testing laboratory with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
