Romania’s industrial output declined 5.2% from a year earlier in June 2026, a slightly smaller contraction than the 5.3% drop recorded in May. The easing reflected smaller declines in mining and quarrying and in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, but manufacturing weakened further and remained the main drag. Manufacturing output fell 6.0%, with steeper declines in beverages, coke and refined petroleum products, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers. On a month-on-month basis, industrial output fell 0.7% after a 2.8% drop in May. For the first six months of 2026, industrial production was 3.5% lower than a year earlier.
