Hungary’s construction output fell 1.2% from a year earlier in June 2026, a much smaller decline than the 10.7% drop recorded in May. The annual fall was led by a 5.5% contraction in building construction, reversing from a 4.6% increase in the previous month. Other construction rose 5.6% after slumping 14.9% in May, helped by a 28.3% increase in civil engineering, mainly driven by a 49.6% expansion in road and railway construction. Specialised construction, the sector’s largest segment, edged up 0.6% from a year earlier. On a seasonally and working-day adjusted basis, construction activity fell 3.9% from the previous month after rising in May. For the first half of 2026, total construction output was down 0.7% compared with the same period a year earlier.
