European stocks finished mixed on August 13 as strong corporate earnings in shipping, payments, technology and other sectors offset weakness in mining and energy shares. The Euro STOXX 50 rose 0.2% to 6,544, while the pan-European STOXX Europe 600 ended nearly flat, slipping 0.24 points, or 0.04%, to 659.24. Maersk jumped 9.4% after second-quarter results beat expectations and the company raised full-year guidance for the second time this year. Adyen surged 16.4% after first-half results topped forecasts and it lifted its 2026 net revenue growth outlook to 21-23% from 20-22%. ASML rose 2.7% for a second straight session, while Savills gained 10.9% and Entain and Orsted also reported first-half core profits above expectations. At the same time, miners fell 3% and energy shares lost 0.8% as lower copper and oil prices pressured resource stocks. Antofagasta dropped 6.8% after cutting its 2026 copper production guidance. Investors also remained cautious over Middle East tensions and the Strait of Hormuz, while watching eurozone inflation data due August 14 for signals on European Central Bank policy.
