Copper has expanded into the United States after Copper Markets (US) Inc. became a broker-dealer registered with the SEC and a member of FINRA. The company said the move gives it a regulated US presence and allows it to roll out institutional services including qualified custody, staking, financing, over-the-counter trading and access to its ClearLoop Network. Copper said ClearLoop lets institutions pledge and move crypto and tokenized assets as collateral between counterparties, a structure designed to support trading and financing activity without relying on traditional on-exchange asset transfers. FINRA BrokerCheck records show Copper Markets had an approved SEC registration status dated Aug. 7 and list FINRA as its self-regulatory organization. Copper described the expansion as establishing its US presence as a "Qualified Custodian," a designation tied to SEC rules under which registered broker-dealers that hold client assets in customer accounts can qualify as custodians.
