Korea Investment Corp. disclosed a new second-quarter position in Circle, holding 65,443 shares valued at about $4.1 million, according to an Aug. 12 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The investment marks the South Korean sovereign wealth fund's first disclosed stake in the issuer of USDC and expands its U.S. crypto-related equity exposure into the stablecoin segment. KIC had previously focused on holdings such as Strategy, Coinbase, Block, Robinhood and Riot Platforms, and in the same quarter it trimmed positions in Strategy, Coinbase and Riot while increasing its stakes in Block and Robinhood. The move suggests a broader portfolio shift toward digital-asset infrastructure and consumer-facing platforms rather than only bitcoin-linked or mining exposure, and highlights rising institutional interest in regulated stablecoin businesses.
