GS Global has opened a branch in Houston, Texas, to deepen its local sales presence in the North American energy and infrastructure market as project-based steel demand rises. The company held an opening ceremony on July 11 local time in Uptown, Houston, and said the new office is meant to capture demand tied to expanding U.S. energy, power and infrastructure investment, particularly as AI data center construction and power grid expansion accelerate. The Houston branch adds a second U.S. hub to GS Global's existing Los Angeles corporation, a structure the company said will help it respond more quickly to tightening trade protectionism and global supply chain restructuring. Beyond steel imports and sales, the office will identify demand from local projects, support order acquisition, participate in the U.S. energy industry supply chain and pursue related opportunities in energy, chemicals and shipbuilding equipment. GS Global also plans to work with Korean steelmakers operating near Houston, including Hyundai Steel and Dongkuk Steel, while seeking new customers among local engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firms and steel processing companies. The company said it will strengthen its local sales network and project management systems in the second half of this year, then ramp up order support and new business development from 2027, positioning Houston as a business development hub for the southern United States.
