U.S. stocks opened modestly higher on Aug. 13, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.26%, the S&P 500 rising 0.29% and the Nasdaq Composite adding 0.12%, while Cisco shares dropped 7.9% after earnings. Cisco reported fourth-quarter revenue of $17.3 billion, above the $16.85 billion market estimate, projected fiscal 2027 adjusted earnings per share of $5.05 to $5.11 versus expectations of $4.84, and disclosed $4 billion in fourth-quarter AI orders from hyperscale cloud service providers. The earlier report also said the July producer price index was mostly cooler than expected, adding a softer wholesale inflation signal to a session otherwise shaped by stock-specific moves.
