The S&P 500 hit a record intraday high of 7,808.42 on Aug. 13, marking the first time the benchmark has traded above 7,800. TradingView showed the index up 0.78% from the previous session as of 11:23 p.m. Korea time, after an earlier report put the intraday gain at 0.66%. Semiconductor-linked shares were among the notable gainers, with Super Micro Computer up more than 6% and Western Digital and Intel each rising more than 4%. The move came against a backdrop of rising Wall Street expectations, with Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs both having lifted their year-end S&P 500 targets to 8,000 in May, while an earlier report also highlighted record CEO compensation among S&P 500 companies.
