Early-August trading data showed continued appetite for semiconductor and other high-beta themes as on-chain traders leaned further into equities and metals while pure crypto activity remained relatively muted. Gate's TradFi trading volume climbed 55% week on week to $18.1 billion between August 3 and 10, led by semiconductor names including SanDisk at about $5.6 billion and SK Hynix at $4.23 billion, while metals rose to 27% of total volume from roughly 9% at the beginning of August. Hyperliquid's HIP-3, which had earlier broken above $4 billion in open interest, also reflected the shift: SKHX, tied to South Korea's SK Hynix, became the most active sector contract with $515.6 million in open interest, while the SKHY contract linked to the company's U.S.-listed ADRs reached $224.59 million. CoinGecko research cited in the report said TradFi-asset volumes rose 117-fold over the past 18 months and reached $1.45 trillion in the first half of 2026, helped by U.S. equities. In South Korea, five KOSDAQ 150 leveraged ETFs gained 45.83% to 51.35% from August 3 to 13 after the KOSDAQ 150 Index rose 22.85%, and defense and aerospace funds also advanced, suggesting investor positioning was broadening even as chip-related trades remained at the center of activity.
