Yemen's Houthi forces, formally known as Ansar Allah, said they carried out a precision drone strike on Najran Airport in southern Saudi Arabia on Aug. 4 in retaliation for Saudi drone activity over Yemen's Saada and Hajjah governorates, and around Aug. 8-9 said they also targeted Saudi Aramco's 400,000-barrel-per-day Jazan refinery. Saudi authorities have not confirmed damage at Najran, while the Energy Ministry said a fire at the Jazan facility was quickly extinguished with no injuries and did not confirm the cause. The refinery attack earlier pushed the diesel crack spread above $98 a barrel to a record, underscoring how the breakdown of a UN-brokered truce that had curbed major combat since 2022 is again putting Saudi energy infrastructure and regional fuel supplies in focus.
