OpenAI has gone through nearly five reorganizations this year as it prepares for a possible IPO, with chief revenue officer Denise Dresser the latest senior executive to depart and earlier exits including former chief financial officer and chief operating officer Brad Lightcap and ethics lead Chloé Bakalar. The Financial Times said the company recently disbanded its Preparedness Team, which assessed major AI safety risks, and reassigned its duties as OpenAI says it is streamlining operations to focus on ChatGPT and enterprise competition with Anthropic. Annualized revenue has climbed from about $24 billion at the end of last year to about $40 billion, though Anthropic has grown faster over the same period; OpenAI has also completed a nearly $7 billion employee stock buyback. Investors are watching whether management stability and organizational efficiency can keep pace with growth as the company weighs a listing that some expect could value it at up to $1 trillion.
