X has expanded its transparency push by open-sourcing more of the code behind its "For You" feed and piloting a feature called "Under the Hood" that lets some users see whether their accounts or individual posts were assigned visibility labels. The larger GitHub release under the xai-org account includes the core ranking engine, model configuration and filtering systems used to assemble default feeds, and exposes parameters that weight ranking signals and labels tied to moderation categories such as NSFW content, spam, violence, impersonation and hateful conduct. The pilot tool is available only to randomly selected eligible accounts that are more than one year old and have posted more than 10 times in the past month. Those users can review labels applied to their accounts or posts over that period and download the data, giving them a way to assess whether content distribution was restricted and why certain posts are surfaced. X said third-party recommender system experts reviewed the release before publication, that some systems including Grok-based enforcement and advertising tools remain closed, and that it plans to update the transparency measures as its recommendation algorithms evolve.
