Samsung Electronics is accelerating the AI transformation of its semiconductor business by recruiting Han Bo-hyung, a Seoul National University professor specializing in deep learning and vision AI, alongside former Meta data engineering specialist Han Tae-rin. Both joined the AX·PI Center in the Device Solutions division, where Han Bo-hyung, appointed as a fellow, will lead AI models tailored to semiconductor R&D and Han Tae-rin, appointed as an executive director, will build the "AI Ready Data" foundation needed to deploy AI directly in operations. The hires accompany Samsung's recent elevation of its AX team into the AX·PI Center and support its broader plan to apply AI across chip design, process development and manufacturing to improve development efficiency, productivity, quality and factory performance, including its previously announced goal of building "AI autonomous factories" by 2030. Han Bo-hyung's appointment also marks a new talent-sharing model, with Seoul National University approving its first 50-50 dual appointment for an active professor and Samsung Electronics making its first concurrent appointment of a domestic university professor.
