Elon Musk plans to route between $100 million and $120 million through America PAC to help boost Republican turnout in the 2026 midterm elections, with the group focusing on low-propensity GOP voters through door-knocking, digital advertising and direct mail rather than a heavy television ad campaign. The effort is expected to begin in August 2026 and target Senate contests in Alaska, Iowa, Maine, Michigan and Ohio, with possible expansion into North Carolina, Georgia and Texas, as well as House races in California, Wisconsin and Washington. America PAC spent more than $260 million during the 2024 election cycle, and while the planned 2026 outlay is smaller in absolute terms, midterm spending typically trails presidential-year levels. The renewed spending plan follows Musk's earlier public signal that he would pull back from campaign giving in 2025 and comes as America PAC reactivates after largely going dormant following the 2024 election. MAGA Inc., the super PAC aligned with Trump, has reportedly been briefed on the plan as Republicans seek to defend their hold on Congress during Trump's second term, a task that could prove difficult given the historical pattern of the president's party losing seats in midterm elections.
