Kazakhstan’s economy expanded 4.9% year on year in January-July 2026, slowing from 5.1% in January-June. The moderation reflected weaker momentum in industry and manufacturing and a deeper contraction in mining and quarrying, although agriculture, construction, transportation and storage, and trade all accelerated. The Short-Term Economic Indicator showed growth in most regions, led by Turkistan, Ulytau, Almaty and Shymkent, while West Kazakhstan, Atyrau, East Kazakhstan and Akmola recorded declines.
