Bulgaria’s economy grew 2.7% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, easing from a revised 2.9% in the previous quarter and marking the weakest annual pace since the first quarter of 2024. Preliminary estimates showed final consumption growth slowed to 7.6% from 8.0%, while gross fixed capital formation eased to 8.0% from 8.5%. In external trade, exports continued to decline but at a softer rate, falling 2.8% after a 7.3% contraction, while imports rose 6.9%, moderating from 8.2%. On a quarterly basis, the economy expanded 0.6% in Q2, down from 0.7% in the prior period and the weakest quarter-on-quarter growth since Q3 2025.
