Pi Network has released Node v0.6.2 with updates to SoloHost, node connectivity and the Pi Desktop interface, including UPnP support and a port checker, as Mainnet operators continue the separate Protocol v26 migration. Pi says all Mainnet Node operators must move to v26 by August 11 to remain connected, a shift from earlier messaging that had described Protocol 26 as completed. The project also said it completed an initial distributed computing test through SoloHost in which five volunteer Node operators received jobs, completed computations and returned results to a Pi coordinator. Pi has linked that test to longer-term plans to use spare capacity across its claimed 420,000-plus community-operated computers for AI and other compute-intensive applications, though it said the effort remains early-stage rather than a live marketplace. Pi runs on the Stellar Consensus Protocol rather than proof-of-work, with Computer App, Node and SuperNode tiers supporting desktop access, transaction handling and consensus.
