Ethereum’s planned Glamsterdam upgrade remains one of the network’s biggest protocol overhauls since The Merge, but its mainnet debut now appears more likely in the fourth quarter of 2026 after a second schedule delay. The post-Fusaka package centers on Layer 1 scaling through enshrined proposer-builder separation under EIP-7732 and block access lists under EIP-7928, alongside repricing changes for storage and read operations. At the same time, core developers are preparing the following 2027 Hegotá upgrade, with 66 Ethereum Improvement Proposals under consideration; Toni Wahrstätter said upcoming meetings will narrow that list to changes that can realistically be implemented, tested and launched, while FOCIL has already been identified as a key Hegotá feature.
