Bitget said it launched margin financing and short selling for U.S. stocks through its Stock+ product on August 14, 2026, aiming to broaden trading tools and improve capital efficiency. The rollout lets users access the feature after opening a Bitget Stock+ account, with margin financing enabled by default and no separate application required. At launch, the platform supports margin financing for more than 3,800 assets and short selling for more than 2,300 assets, although short selling is currently limited to ETB (easy-to-borrow securities) assets, with leverage of up to 3x. During the promotional period, the annualized interest rate for short selling is as low as 0%. Bitget also outlined how its margin system works, including initial margin, maintenance margin, liquidation thresholds, a 72-hour margin-call window, interest calculations based on T+1 settlement, dividend charges on open short positions, and the possibility of forced buy-ins if borrowed shares can no longer be maintained.
