China's central bank injected billions of liquidity into the financial system through overnight reverse repos, in an unusual mid-month operation. The move was described as the first time the central bank has used overnight reverse repos in the middle of a month, highlighting a targeted step to support short-term funding conditions. Reverse repos are short-term cash operations in which a central bank provides liquidity to markets while taking in securities as collateral.
