Hancock Prospecting, the investment company of Gina Rinehart, bought 8 million SpaceX shares in the second quarter, leaving the stake worth $1.37 billion on June 30 and making it the portfolio's largest disclosed U.S. holding. Rinehart had said in June that she made a "significant investment" in SpaceX around its June 12 initial public offering. The holding has also drawn attention to exchange-traded funds that now give investors exposure to the stock following its Nasdaq debut and addition to the Nasdaq-100 effective July 7, including broad index funds such as Invesco QQQ Trust and Invesco Nasdaq 100 ETF, as well as a cluster of single-stock leveraged ETFs designed to deliver twice SpaceX's daily performance. SpaceX initially rose as high as $225.64, then fell to $104.83 in early August before rebounding above its $135 IPO price, underscoring both the passive demand created by index inclusion and the risks of using daily leveraged products. Hancock Prospecting also doubled its position in Trump Media & Technology Group and raised exposure to an S&P 500 ETF as well as several defense and energy stocks. By the end of the quarter, its U.S.-listed securities were valued at $5.71 billion, up 72% from the previous quarter.
