Colombia's real retail sales rose 14.7% year-on-year in June, beating the 13.6% market forecast and accelerating from an 11.7% increase in May. The breakdown showed broad-based strength, with 17 merchandise lines posting gains and two declining. The largest increases came from motor vehicles and motorcycles mainly for household use, up 49.8%, other motor vehicles and motorcycles, up 52.4%, and sound and video equipment and appliances, up 89.9%. Footwear, leather goods and leather substitutes fell 1.6%, while food sales declined 1.2%.
