Ross Gerber, founder and chief executive officer of U.S. asset manager Gerber Kawasaki Wealth, said Michael Saylor had made him skeptical of Bitcoin and that the cryptocurrency was now hard to take seriously. In an Aug. 14 post on X, Gerber renewed criticism he had already leveled in June, when he said Saylor had claimed he would never sell Bitcoin but later "rug-pulled" the market, helping trigger a decline and the unwinding of speculative positions. Gerber's comments extend months of attacks on Strategy's debt- and capital-markets-driven approach to accumulating BTC and its later Bitcoin sales. The remarks underline a sharp turn from his earlier support for Bitcoin as an inflation hedge and digital gold, although Business Insider reported in March 2025 that he had sold most of his holdings and moved some proceeds into gold.
