Ethereum developers are reviewing 66 proposals as they narrow the scope of Hegotá, the network upgrade targeted for 2027, with FOCIL remaining the only Ethereum Improvement Proposal formally scheduled for inclusion. Ethereum Foundation contributor Toni Wahrstätter said privacy-focused proposals including Frame Transactions, Keyed Nonces and Recent Roots for Frame Transactions should also be added to help enable native privacy applications without intermediaries, though that reflects an advocacy position rather than a finalized core developer decision. FOCIL, or Fork-choice enforced inclusion lists, is designed to let a validator committee force pending transactions into blocks, strengthening censorship resistance, while the other proposals would provide protocol-level building blocks for privacy applications. The next Ethereum core developer calls, including one scheduled for Monday at 2:00 pm UTC, are set to shape a significant part of Ethereum's development path for 2027, and proposals that miss Hegotá could be reconsidered in a later upgrade. Before that, developers are preparing Glamsterdam, a major upgrade aimed at improving scalability, strengthening layer-1 and making Ethereum easier to use, with mainnet launch expected in the second half of 2026 according to Ethereum's public roadmap.
