Quinbrook said its Supernode battery energy storage system (BESS) campus in Brendale, north of Brisbane, has brought Stage 2 into commercial operation and achieved financial close on A$469 million of debt financing for Stage 3. The phased project, described as Australia's largest operational BESS campus, is expected to exceed 3 GWh in planned capacity and reach 780MW/3,074MWh across its first three stages, with total financing across Stages 1, 2 and 3 rising to about A$1.2 billion. CATL is the core energy storage system supplier for all three stages, providing EnerC Plus systems for Stages 1 and 2, TENER S systems for Stage 3, and lifecycle support under a Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA), a maintenance and performance support contract. The site sits next to the South Pine substation in Queensland, a key grid hub and the regional reference node for marginal loss factors (MLFs), which influence delivered power economics. Quinbrook and CATL are also developing EnerQB, an eight-hour battery storage solution under consideration for future stages.
