Cboe to launch 7:30 a.m. pre-market single-stock equity options on August 17

Cboe Options Exchange is conducting weekend system tests for extended trading in select single-stock equity options after winning SEC approval on May 28, 2026. The new structure is targeted for production launch on July 13, 2026, though that date remains subject to regulatory review, and would add a pre-market session from 7:30 a.m. to 9:25 a.m. ET and a post-close curb session from 4:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. ET on weekdays. The initial rollout is expected to cover about 20 heavily traded names, including Magnificent 7 stocks, as well as AMD, BAC and BABA. Cboe said customer readiness tests are scheduled for May 30, June 27, July 11 and August 15. The push extends a model Cboe already uses for index derivatives such as SPX and VIX options, where near-24-hour access has drawn overseas demand; Global Trading Hours and curb volumes for those products rose 32% year over year in the first quarter of 2026.
