Institutional ownership of SpaceX came into clearer view after the company listed on Nasdaq on June 12, with second-quarter 13F filings (U.S. quarterly portfolio disclosures) showing about 1,697 reporting entities held positions as of June 30, according to third-party 13F platform Giantsight. The disclosures span pre-IPO backers, venture capital, asset managers and pension funds. SEC filings show Alphabet reported the largest position with 551 million SpaceX shares valued at $94.18 billion, followed by Valor Management with 503 million shares worth $86.01 billion, FMR LLC with 303 million shares worth $51.66 billion, Gigafund Management with 172 million shares worth $29.36 billion, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund with 154 million shares worth $26.34 billion, and BAMCO, part of Baron, with 146 million shares worth $24.91 billion. Other notable holders included Nvidia with 123 million shares worth $20.98 billion, Baillie Gifford with 51.40 million shares worth $8.78 billion, BlackRock with 51.04 million common shares worth $8.72 billion, Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan with 50.68 million shares worth $8.66 billion, and Harvard University's endowment with 12.935 million shares worth $2.21 billion. The reported stakes reflect different ownership paths: Alphabet and Gigafund were investors before the listing, Nvidia's position stems from an earlier investment in xAI, and FMR, BAMCO, BlackRock and Baillie Gifford mainly represent asset-management capital. Their appearance in 13F filings for the first time does not mean all of those institutions bought SpaceX in the secondary market after the listing. All values were based on June 30, when SpaceX closed at $170.86. The stock closed at $140 on August 14, down about 18.1% from the end of the quarter, implying lower current market values for those common-share positions if share counts were unchanged. Form 13F primarily shows quarter-end long positions and some options, but does not disclose stock shorts, written options, purchase timing, cost basis or trading after quarter-end.
