MarsCoin, a BNB Chain meme token identified by BlockBeats as the contract beginning with 0x1706, surged more than 400-fold to a market capitalization above $36 million before falling to roughly $6.59 million and later about $3.3 million, down more than 90% from its peak, with about $240,000 left in its liquidity pool. The move drew broader attention after CZ's public wallet burned 4,444 MARSCOIN: Lookonchain said on Aug. 17 that one trader bought 84.61 million tokens in the same second for 16 BNB, sold in stages for total proceeds of 465 BNB, about $282,000, and achieved a 29-fold return, while PANews said trader 0xacbf later spent 133,000 USDT on 6.15 million MARSCOIN and sold about two hours later for 22,400 USDT, losing $110,700. CZ later said unsolicited meme coin spam had made the public address unusable, transferred about $965,000 in BNB and BinanceLife tokens, which he also described as BNB and "Binance-branded assets," to Giggle Academy, and said he would stop using the wallet, effectively turning it into a burn address. BNB was around $602 with little immediate market reaction.
