Strategy’s STRC preferred stock outperformed bitcoin by 56 percentage points over the year through the Aug. 14 market close, according to a return chart Michael Saylor shared on Aug. 16 showing STRC up 9% including dividends and distributions while bitcoin fell 47%. In an Aug. 17 investor Q&A, Saylor and CEO Phong Le said the company was prioritizing STRC support, cash reserves and credit operations over MSTR buybacks for now, while leaving open common-stock repurchases if MSTR traded at a very deep discount to net asset value. Strategy said it held about 840,447 BTC as of Aug. 9, 2026 and roughly $4.8 billion of U.S. dollar reserves in mid-August. Separately, prediction-market pricing showed slightly weaker confidence that STRC would reach $100 by Dec. 31, with YES odds at 60.5%, down from 64% a day earlier.
