Tencent's Carbon Neutrality Interim Report lays out how the company plans to reach carbon neutrality across its own operations and supply chain and use 100% green power by 2030, even as AI sharply increases data-center energy demand. Green power use rose from 22.0% in 2024 to 48.5% in 2025, self-owned data centers reached an 82.9% green power share, average power usage effectiveness (PUE) at those sites was 1.246, and installed renewable energy capacity at Tencent data centers climbed to 63.8 megawatts from 6.6 megawatts in 2021. Tencent said rack power demand has risen from 6-8 kilowatts to 30-100 kilowatts or more, prompting its T-AIDC architecture with power-supply efficiency of up to 98%, microgrids and larger green power procurement, while overall emissions have remained stable and manageable and have begun to decline. The report also highlights AI scheduling, digital twins, CarbonX Program and TanLIVE as tools to cut emissions within Tencent and support climate solutions in industries such as steel.
