Hong Kong equities opened higher on August 17, with the Hang Seng Index up 0.74% and the Hang Seng Tech Index gaining 1.14%. Among major stocks, JD.com rose more than 3%, Lenovo Holdings climbed more than 2%, and Alibaba, Bilibili and Zhipu each gained more than 1%. Storage-related shares and gold stocks also strengthened, with GigaDevice up 5.58%, Montage Technology up 2.96% and VSTECS up 2.61%, while Zijin Gold International, China Gold International and Lingbao Gold also posted solid opening gains.
