Blockstream has begun beta testing Blockstream Swaps, a trustless service that moves Bitcoin between the main chain, the Lightning Network and the Liquid sidechain using hashed time-locked contracts for atomic swaps, about two weeks after Boltz indefinitely suspended its own swap service amid AI-assisted attacks. The Aug. 17 announcement said users can request access, but Blockstream did not set a date for a broader rollout, and said the product is meant to add redundancy rather than replace existing providers. The service supports submarine swaps from BTC or LBTC into Lightning, reverse submarine swaps back to the Bitcoin mainnet or Liquid, and chain swaps between BTC and LBTC without a custodial intermediary. The launch comes as wallets including Bull Bitcoin and Aqua lost access to Boltz infrastructure and ZEUS separately took infrastructure offline on Aug. 5; Amboss said public Lightning capacity still rose by 28 BTC and public channels increased by 256 during that week.
