Hyperliquid's platform-wide open interest has risen above $12 billion for the first time since October 10, marking a broader recovery in activity on the decentralized perpetuals venue as HIP-3 markets continue to expand. The protocol previously said HIP-3 open interest reached a record $4.3 billion, and the new milestone indicates that segment remains a major contributor to total positioning, with contracts linked not only to crypto assets but also to instruments such as the S&P 500 and individual equities. Earlier in 2026, Hyperliquid had crossed the $10 billion mark as it pushed further into commodities and real-world assets. The rebound follows an earlier peak of about $15.85 billion in platform-wide open interest before a broader market correction in October compressed derivatives positioning across venues. Hyperliquid has also reached a record 9.5% share of centralized exchange perpetual open interest, underscoring its growing presence against larger incumbents including Binance and Bybit. The protocol has said it will expand the HIP-1 specification, has added related functionality for HIP-4, opened Hyper Foundation non-validator nodes to infrastructure providers as reliable peer nodes, and seen Buoy Finance deploy a vault system for HyperCore trading through HyperEVM custom vaults.
