Branch County's average gasoline price rose 43 cents from a week earlier to $4.28 a gallon on Monday, slightly above Michigan's statewide average of $4.27, according to AAA Michigan. The state average was up 12 cents from a week earlier, 19 cents from a month earlier and $1.13 from a year earlier. St. Joseph County had southwest Michigan's lowest price at $4.10, while Barry County was highest in the region at $4.37. Ann Arbor and Jackson posted the highest prices statewide at $4.33, Marquette the lowest at $4.05, and some stations in Angola, Indiana, were as low as $3.49 during the state's gas tax holiday.
